Artificial Breeding of
Horses

This book on artificial breeding techniques was produced in response to requests from horse breeders who wanted to better understand the technology and management techniques necessary for successful breeding.

Over the past few decades, artificial breeding has become widespread in almost all horse breeds in New Zealand, except for the Thoroughbred, as it enables breeders to more rapidly develop the most desirable traits of their breeds. This book aims to explain, in simple terms, the equipment and management techniques required to produce the highest percentage of births to inseminations.
