Equine Laminitis
Laminitis is a debilitating disease that significantly impacts both animal welfare and economic returns in the equine industry. However, there is a shortage of up-to-date and reliable information available to those dealing directly with this disease. To fill this gap, the New Zealand Equine Research Foundation commissioned a booklet by veterinarian Christopher C. Pollitt, aimed at providing a go-to resource for veterinarians, farriers, owners, and others involved in the equine industry. While no booklet can answer all questions related to a vast topic like laminitis, this resource offers a starting point for discussion and rational therapy in the face of such a devastating and misunderstood disease.
The booklet aims to provide a deeper understanding and a more rational approach to the many aspects of laminitis, a chameleon-like disease. The New Zealand Equine Research Foundation is grateful to Professor Pollitt and his team of researchers for their groundbreaking research and for making information available for the benefit of all in the New Zealand equine industry.
